Liesing is a diverse district with a fascinating blend of develop- ment areas for residential development, village-like areas, and green villa quarters. The Twenty-Third District has it all. The stark contrast between the district’s neighbourhoods is especially striking. Siebenhirten and Erlaa have large residential complexes such as the prominent monumental buildings in the Alt-Erlaa residential park. This contrasts with the single-family homes and villas in the idyllic wine tavern neighbourhoods such as Mauer and the Rodaun and Kalksburg areas. Liesing ranks third amongst Vienna’s districts in residential develop- ment. The past few years have seen many new neighbourhoods and residential projects, especially with former trading estates suc- cessfully being repurposed as attractive residential areas. The new

district developments along Breitenfurter Straße are already in the final stages of completion and occupancy. The district also has new development projects in the starting blocks such as Carré Atzgers- dorf with around 1,500 new apartments planned, and a new central square near the centre of Atzgersdorf to serve as a place to meet for the local community. A residential area on Scherbangasse rounds off the quarter. The District South project aims to turn the former site of a paint factory into a sustainable, green, car-free neighbourhood with modern affordable housing. Many new projects will be addressing the ongoing heavy demand for living space in the district. Home seekers will find what they are look- ing for here – Liesing Gardens on Draschestraße, Kh:ek at Khekgasse 51, Vincent on Perfektastraße, Duo 547 on Breitenfurter Straße, and Aublüte on Fröhlichgasse.
